  • 2 cinnamon sticks 

  • 2 bay leaves 

  • 4 cardamom pods 

  • 4 cloves 

  • Peppercorns 

  • 2 tsp cumin seeds 

  • ½ tsp hing 

  • ½ cup onions, chopped 

  • 1 Tbsp green chilies, 

  • 1 Tbsp fresh ginger

  • 1 tsp garlic 

  • ½ tsp turmeric 

  • 1 cup basmati rice 

  • 1.5 tsp salt 

  • 1 medium raw potato, chopped 

  • ½ cup peas 

  • 1.5 cups cauliflower 

  • 2 Tbsp cilantro 

  • 2 cups water 



  1. Wash and Soak rice 

  2. Add 3 Tbsp of ghee to large pan.

  3. Add all ingredients up to garlic and cook for a few minutes until onions are light brown

  4. Take off heat and add turmeric, cumin powder, salt, put back on stove 

  5. Add potatoes, peas, cauliflower and stir 

  6. Add cilantro, turn down heat, cover 

  7. Check when vegetables and soft and add rice, stir and add water 

  8. Cover again on medium/high heat

  9. Let it boil and wait a few minutes, then turn down to medium 

  10. Wait until you see no water left 

  11. Turn off heat and whole spices will rise to the top 

  12. Remove whole spices and serve, enjoy!
